Supported by the European Commission and the Normandy Region, and thanks to the Academies of Caen and Rouen, the Institute leads a project on human rights education, since three years. This program, called “Do The Right(s) Thing!”, has an european perspective as it is carried out in Tuscany – Italy and Istria – Croatia.
The 1000 high school students participating in the project in Normandy, are invited to meet the 2nd and 3rd of march during the 3rd Human Rights Meeting. They will then take part in a mock Conference related to the following thematic : “Human rights at the digital era”.
The impacts of the several digital tools on Freedom of speech will be part of the discussions between the students. In particular, they will work to find concrete solutions in order to struggle against hate speech online.
In the morning of the event, they will mobilize, in groups, the knowledge acquired during the awareness raising courses by embodying the position of a group (States, NGO and companies) through debates. The afternoon will be dedicated to the presentation of the resolutions taken by the different groups faced to the problems they had to solve.
Some prestigious guests will be present, as the National Coordinator of the campaign No Hate Speech Movement, the French “Protector of the Rights” or the National Advisory Commission of Human Rights.
