Albania to host major meeting of ‘No Hate Speech Movement’ youth campaigners

sFrom 23 to 25 September 2016, the Albanian Ministry of Social Affairs and Youth, with support of the Council of Europe and the Country office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), will host in Tirana the 4th coordination meeting of the No Hate Speech Movement

bThe No Hate Speech Movement is a Council of Europe campaign promoting human rights and freedom of expression on- and offline, combatting hate speech, including cyberbullying, through education and awareness-raising activities. The campaign is implemented through national committees in 43 countries across Europe, as well as in Morocco, Canada and Mexico, together with numerous partners and online activists.

aSixty-five representatives of ministries responsible for youth matters, as well as human rights and anti-discrimination Youth NGOs from 37 countries will come to Tirana to exchange good practices in combatting online expressions of discrimination and plan the European programme of the campaign for 2017.

Albanian Minister of Social Affairs and Youth, Blendi Klosi, will open the meeting together with Anne Brasseur, the Council of Europe’s No Hate Speech Ambassador and former president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and Brian Williams, United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNFPA Representative.
