All Democratic Forces need to Stick Together: Say No to Hate!
Anne Brasseur on the occasion of the end of her presidency of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, gave a campaign button to all members of the assembly.
Subsequently in an in-depth interview she she argues for democratic principles and the values of Human Rights are essential to enjoy freedom in Europe today
‘It is when we experience an attack on our freedom like with Charlie Hebdo that we see a movement of solidarity and I had hoped it would stay longer…we see now a tendency to blame somebody who has a different opinion, nationality of religion…so all the democratic forces need now to stick together and say no to hate…That is why I have and will continue to support the No Hate Speech Movement’
Mrs Brasseur is a promoter of the campaign and enabled the establishment of the No Hate Parliamentary Alliance in follow-up to the Assembly Resolution 1967 (2014) on A strategy to prevent racism and intolerance in Europe.
