MARCH, 2014



The official version of Bookmarks, the manual for the educators in schools and youth workers, is now available on the coordination website. Do not hesitate to consult it, download it and disseminate it.

A call for participants has been launched to participate in the regional training course for trainers and youth workers for combating hate speech through human rights education. This training course will take place in Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium, from 8-12 April and will be in French. You can find more information on this event here. If you would like to participate, please fill in the application form available on the website and send it before 14 March 2014.

The European Youth Event will take place from 9 to 11 May in the European Parliament, Strasbourg. A Living Library will be organised on 9 May from 1:30 pm to 6pm and on 10 May from 10 am until 6pm. You will be able to “read” English, French and German “books” as well as materials presenting the campaign. More information at this link.

The European Action Week against Racism and Discrimination will take place from 21 to 28 March. A team of online activists is now finalising work on the possible actions that can be undertaken. We invite you to check regularly the events on the platform www.nohatespeechmovement.org to know more! You can also read this article on the blog.

The No Hate Speech Movement has its first university partner, which is the ITI-RI (Institute of Translators, Interpreters and International Relations), based in Strasbourg, France. A stand will be held during the Open Day of the University on 15 March to present the campaign to students.


REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA: the campaign in Moldova was launched on 27 February. Several activities took place, such as photo sessions and flashmobs. You can also have a look at the official video of the Campaign.

SPAIN: the Spanish Campaign Committee has launched Twitter and Facebook accounts! We invite you to follow the news in Spain by following those two social networks. Do not forget to visit the campaign website www.nohate.es.

IRELAND: The enthusiasm for the No Hate Speech Movement in Ireland is growing, following our Information Meeting on 19 February. A first Campaign Support Group Meeting was held on 7 March. Anyone based in Ireland who has been involved in the No Hate Speech Movement, or is interested in doing so, either as a group or an individual, do not hesitate to get involved. SERBIA: The players of the Novi Pazar and Partizan teams have joined the fight against violence and hooliganism. They wore the Campaign T-shirts during a match they played against each other on 22 February.
