8 April: EUROPEAN ACTION DAY AGAINST ANTIGYPSYISM AND IN SOLIDARITY WITH ROMA PEOPLE. We invite you to put into place the actions indicated in the platform of the campaign.

The Joint Council on Youth took the decision to extend the campaign until the end of March 2015!

The 6th Follow Up Group meeting is going to take place on 15 and 16 April in the European Youth Centre Strasbourg. The Follow Up Group is composed of some ten people (6 members and 4 to 6 observers) who meet regularly in order to see what has been achieved so far and what programme should be put into place for the upcoming year.

“Connexions” is the title of the French version of Bookmarks! The manual will be soon available in French on the co-ordination website www.coe.int/youthcampaign.

One of our partners, the “European Wegerland Centre”, has issued a publication gathering five articles on the theme of “Living together” in different societies in Europe. One of these articles describes the No Hate Speech Movement. You can read this publication here.

On 25 March the Permanent Delegation of the Council of Europe to the United Nations Office in Geneva made a statement regarding the No Hate Speech Movement under Item 9 of the regular agenda of the Human Rights Council. Item 9 deals with racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and other forms of intolerance.

BELGIUM The Belgian National committee will organise on 25 April a reflection/awareness-raising day, hosted at the Parliament of the Federation Wallonia-Brussels. Together with teachers, parents and young people, experts and youth work practitioners will exchange on prevention and crisis management practices, highlight areas where more knowledge and resources are needed and offer ideas for further developments. No Hate activists will present games and awareness-raising videos they have developed in the framework of the campaign, and politicians will share their views on how to combat hate speech, online and offline.

For more information, we invite you to have a look at the web page of the “Bureau International Jeunesse”: http://www.lebij.be/index.php/no-hate-parlement/

For more reflection and prevention material (in French), have a look at the awareness raising video clips realised by Loupiotte, a youth organisation composed of a team of cinema professionals and teachers. This organisation created videos on the themes of freedom of expression, anonymity and education.
