NHSM Lithuania celebrates IDAHOT, May 17 2017
In order to celebrate IDAHOT, the International day against homophobia, transphobia and biphobia, the No Hate Speech Movement Lithuania teamed up with Gyvoji Biblioteka/Human Library, Lithuania, to organise a Human Library event at Žaros Vidurinė school.
The event took place on May 17 at 17:00 and commenced with an opening address from the NHSM Lithuania team on tackling hate speech and the importance of celebrating this day. Following that, there was a presentation by Gyvoji Biblioteka on the important work they do in helping to tackle homophobic, transphobic and biphobic hate speech.
Approximately 40 students attended the event and through the human library they were able to speak to members of the Lithuanian LGBTQ community, in order to hear their first hand experiences of homophobic, transphobic and biphobic hate speech.
