NO HATE SPEECH MOVEMENT ON SUMMER FESTIVALS AROUND SERBIA

Thousands of young people and other visitors had a chance to learn more about No hate speech movement and campaign for combating hate speech online on summer festivals held in Serbia during July and August, 2013.

The first one was world-famous EXIT festival (Novi Sad, July 10-14), where campaign volunteers from the organizations engaged in the National Committee for combating HS online talked to visitors about the campaign, shared interesting and informative materials, with the presence of State secretary from the Ministry of Youth and Sport, Nenad Borovčanin and national coordinator of the campaign and CDEJ member, Aleksandra Knežević.

After that, visitors had a chance to hear more about the campaign on 47th Guitariade held in Zajecar from August 01 to 03, not only through the volunteers’ activities on info pult, but also on interactive discussion „Rock agains hate speech online“, led by national coordinator of the campaign and member of Timok Youth Center, Ivan Zivkovic.

At the same time, on Lovefest in Vrnjacka Banja the whole music zone – silent disco zone was dedicated to No hate speech movement and the festival promoted visuals of the campaign all over. Beside info activities done by campaign volunteers, visitors had a chance to hear all about the campaign, its goals, realized activities and plans on different lectures and workshops held by Aleksandra Knezevic, national coordinator, Marija Minic, member of the National Committee for combating HS online and Aleksandar Popovic, moderator within the national campaign.

On the basis of common bilateral Action Plan on Cooperation in the field of youth, we hosted two delegations consisted of young people active in the campaign in their countries – 15 young people from the Slovak Republic and 5 young people from the Republic of Srpska. Common activities were agreed within the campaign and we are looking forward to their implementation!
