No hate speech movement was promoted on 19th October during the International Student Night – Nuit des Étudiants(es) du Monde in the City hall of Strasbourg. This event is part of Strasbourg aime ses étudiants back-to-school activities and it was organized by the City and Eurometropolis of Strasbourg and other relevant partners. Around 500 students from all over the world joined Unversity of Strasbourg and the City of Strasbourg to celebrate 30 years of Erasmus.

The event was simultaneously organized in more than twenty French cities to welcome students coming from around the world to study in France. Students enjoyed various activities which offered them an overview of different opportunities where they can be involved. The No hate speech Campaign of the Council of Europe was presented, engaging young people directly online and offline. In addition to the campaign there were presentations of the University of Strasbourg, Campus France, Young Europeans, The Erasmus Student Network and others.

Local volunteers provided animation activities to present the No Hate Campaign to students in different ways. A very popular activity was the No Hate quiz on topics that raised awareness about Hate speech and also provided information about the Campaign and the Council of Europe. Since most of the students weren’t aware of the Campaign, they had a chance to learn more about it and were invited to participate in the upcoming Action days in November and December. They were able to write a message in their language, take a picture with it and share it online with campaigns’ hashtag.
