No Hate Speech Movement – Hungarian NCC & FSV

The NHSM NCC and the Foundation of Subjective Values together with internationally recruited volunteers were present and implementing highly successful promotional and awareness-raising activities about the NHSM on the Sziget Festival between 10-17 August 2016.

The Sziget Festival is one of the largest music and cultural festival in Europe. It has a growing popularity among European youngsters since its foundation in 1993. Nowadays around the 50 % of the visitors come from outside of Hungary, mainly from the Netherlands, UK, France, Germany, Ireland and Italy. The festival is a two time winner at the European Festivals Awards  in the category of Best Major European Festival in 2012 and 2015. Since 2013 the event is organized with the concept of the Island of Freedom, where all its ’citizens’ have equal rights.

The Foundation of Subjective Values has been doing awareness-raising activities throughout the whole week in the area of the ’EU Meeting Point’ of the Sziget, and engaged hundreds of youngsters to discussions and activities in order to support them in being active citizens who are aware of, taking actions and standing up for human rights, democratic values, solidarity and equality.

Together with the NCC they have 2 days dedicated to NHSM, while they have collected almost 200 No Hate – messages from youngsters from all over the world who shared their opinion on a piece of paper why they fight against hate. They have also shared the promotional and disseminational materials (leaflets, pins, stickers and balloons) they have been receiving from the EYF with the visitors, who were all truly glad to be able to spread the Movement further themselves.
